Elizabeth Santos Leal de Carvalho est une chanteuse bresilienne principalement de Samba et de Pagode, guitariste et compositrice, nee le 5 mai 1946 a Rio de Janeiro. Beth Carvalho fait partie de cette generation de chanteuse de Samba, a l'image d'Alcione, toujours en activite, et dont la discographie est plus que consequente. Andanca, paru 1969, est le troisieme LP de la chanteuse, celui qui l'a revelee au grand public, avec cette particularite de proposer un habile melange de Samba / Pagode ("Carnaval"), Bossa Nova ("Um Amor em Cada Coracao" e "Samba do Perdao") et MPB ("Fechei a Porta" e "Andanca"). Un album qui met egalement en avant les qualites vocales de l'artiste, une voix chaude et sensuelle au grain inimitable. Au final Andanca est une bonne introduction au repertoire de Beth Carvalho qui ensuite se specialisera dans un registre essentiellement Samba e Pagode. Personnalite attachante et manager a ses heures, elle a decouvert quelques talents de la nouvelle scene Samba e Pagode des annees 1990/2000 tels que Jorge Aragao, Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho, Luiz Carlos da Vila e le groupe Fundo de Quintal.

Tempo que as melhores cantoras de samba Beth e Clara já abriam as porta para o samba de raiz... de forma tímida com mistura de ritmos de uma época..bossa nova e boleros... depois deslancharam e duelaram a cada LP o carinho do público..que só viu esse duelos de titãs ter seu fim com o desaparecimento da guerreira mineira

Momento muito bonito da criação na música brasileira. Faltou dizer que no fundo estão os Golden Boys, fazendo uma espécie de contracanto que dá um charme para esta bela composição poética e melódica.
